portrait in winter

Although it's warm and sunny outside, I decided to paint a picture that plays in winter. I always look forward to the opposite season. In summer I want winter and snow, in winter I wait for warm days of spring and so on. That's sort of why the girl is dressed in warm clothes.

Back to the topic. This is a portrait of my beautiful girlfriend based on a photo. I used photoshop with an Intous3 A5. Took me about a week of work. Guess that's not very fast, but I'm new to painting portraits. It is quite different from texturing and modelling.

I enjoyed painting the image and I hope you enjoy watching it.

the journey begins

This image was my entry in the "The journey begins" cgtalk contest. It is based on a children's book my girlfriend is writing about two kids discovering their little village. The boy is a cartoonized younger version of myself and consequently the girl a younger version of my girlfriend. I implemented a lot of those funny details which made working on the image even more fun. I like the extreme color brightness, and the happymess inside the image.

House Without Guitarr Player

I've been using max for about a year now, but this was my first attempt on using only hand-painted (photoshop) high res textures. Turned out quite amazing, in my opinion. I put most of my attention to the diffuse color and little to bumpiness. There's not muych specularity or reflection. My next artwork will concentrate on that.
I kind of finished this artwork, but i still welcome any comments and critiques.
ciao, David
